Tell us about the location you chose for your SUNLOUNGER 2 competition story… My story is set in Frangokastello, a small seaside village on the south coast of Crete. I went there for the first time last year. It has a castle on the edge of the beach and towering mountains behind. We had lunch in a taverna that looked out over the sparkling blue ocean. It was a magical place and, as I discovered later, has its own ghost story.
How did you feel when you learned your story was going to be published? Overwhelmed and very excited. The knowledge that my story is going to be nestled alongside those of my favourite authors, and that people will actually be reading it . . . it’s an amazing feeling, and still quite hard to take in.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? If it weren’t for being on the other side of the world to friends and family, I would live in Australia. My memories are all of fun, friendly people, sunshine, beautiful landscapes, wonderful food and so much to do. I could happily live in Brisbane or Sydney.
Destination you’ve returned to the most times… Edinburgh. It’s not exotic, but it’s a fantastic city with so much history and character. My husband and I went there for our honeymoon, and we’re heading back later this year. I can’t wait.
Favourite cuisine from around the world? I loved the Greek food when I went last year. Huge, juicy tomatoes, olives and salads, and grilled chicken, lamb and fish. It was so delicious and fresh, it felt like you were eating the sunshine.
Favourite holiday cocktail? Pina Colada. Pineapple and coconut is the perfect, summery combination.
What was your best/worst holiday romance? I went to Vancouver Island a few months after getting together with David (now my husband). I remember walking along the boardwalk round Victoria harbour and going whale watching together. It was very romantic!
