Tell us about the location you chose for your SUNLOUNGER short story: I chose Barcelona because I once lived there and love everything about the city (well, except the pickpockets). I adore the unusual festivals that pop up all the time and visitors happen on by chance, and my story features one of those. A vibrant, fashionable city with a beach, what’s not to love?
Have your books featured any exotic destinations? I have featured Barcelona before in my teen trilogy, Soul Beach – the third and final book, Soul Storm, is set partly around the Andaman coast of Thailand, which was great to research! Mainly, though, my novels for adults focus on exotic destinations like Birmingham, Manchester and the Dorset coast.
If you could live anywhere in the world… I loved Barcelona but I think it’d have to be New York. Who wouldn’t want to live there?
Destination you’ve returned to the most times? Barcelona, followed by Italy. I adore the place and the sights and the men. To look at, mind you. Their reputation as being high maintenance is well-deserved, I think!
Ticket, passport, money and… My Kindle. I can’t bear not to have a book ready to dive into, and with my Kindle, I have hundreds! I used to pack a suitcase full of books as I read so fast on holiday, but now I have more room for clothes…
Favourite cuisine from around the world? Italian, for the pasta and the gelato, followed by Indian for the vegetarian curries. With a special mention for French patisserie.
Favourite holiday cocktail? Mojito. But I like to try the local drinks as well and often bring them home (though why do they never taste as good in cold England as they did when I sipped a glass as the sun went down).
What was your best/worst holiday romance? That’s between me and my diary…
