Tell us about the location you chose for your SUNLOUNGER 2 story… I chose Los Angeles as I’ve always been fascinated by LA – the glamour! The sunshine! The beautiful people! I’ve only been there once, and very briefly (less than 24 hours in Santa Monica, tagged onto the end of a holiday to Las Vegas), so I’m dying to go back and spend more time there. It’s also the primary location for my third novel, which I’m currently working on, and this was a great way to explore a different side of it.
Have your books featured any exotic destinations? My books are very jet-set: the first, IDOL, featured Las Vegas, Ibiza, Hawaii, New York, Los Angeles and the Cap d’Antibes. The second, DIVA, covered Paris, Tokyo, Detroit, Dubai, St Tropez and Bali.
If you could live anywhere in the world… I’d love to live in Los Angeles for a while (see above); I’ve been there once and I’m fascinated by it. I’d spend my time spotting celebrities and soaking up the sun. I also think I could be super-healthy if I lived there – running on the beach every morning and eating all that organic, veggie food.
Destination you’ve returned to the most times? I go to Spain regularly as my boyfriend’s parents have a house there. It’s in a tiny village not far from Granada, and you’re about forty-five minutes from the beach in one direction, and the mountains in the other, which means skiing in the winter. There’s a big group of us that go out every summer, and it’s a lovely relaxing week of lazing round the pool, cooking on the barbecue and getting very drunk on cheap alcohol.
Favourite cuisine from around the world? I’m a veggie and I love Italian food – pizza, pasta, Mediterranean veg and salad drenched in olive oil. Not to mention the red wine of course!
Favourite holiday cocktail? I got hooked on rum cocktails in Barbados – delicious and lethal! I’ve tried making them at home, but it’s never the same as when you’re away. I’m also quite partial to a chilled mango smoothie, livened up with a shot of vodka.
What was your best/worst holiday romance? I’ve never really had a holiday romance – I think I’ve missed out! I’d have to be loyal and say that the best type of holiday romance is going away with my boyfriend. I don’t know if this counts as the worst, but when we went to Egypt we had a very over-attentive tour guide, who wanted to spend all his free time with us and was insistent on taking me home to meet his mother!
