Tell us about the location you chose for your SUNLOUNGER 2 story… The real-life story behind the reason I wanted to write about Singapore is so barking that people will think it is fiction so let’s just sum it up in a sentence and I can TOTES spill all if you buy me a Singapore Sling: In July 2013 I found myself midst rendition of ’2 become 1′ in the karaoke room of the largest suite in the Marine Bay Sands Hotel with three vocally-challenged men being told off by David Beckham. I remember three things about this experience: 1) I am an EXCEPTIONAL singer and pretty wasted talent so should probably pursue a new career as one fifth of a Spice Girl Tribute Act. 2) The views from floor to ceiling windows in the suite showed the entire city of Singapore stretched out before us. 3) DAVID BECKHAM WAS THERE.
Have your books featured any exotice destinations? In the first chapter of HOW TO GET A LOVE LIFE the heroine finds herself in an airport about to embark on a Single’s Holiday to Greece.
If you could live anywhere in the world… If Australia was an hour away I would choose to live there. In a little hut on Fraser Island with my gorgeous husband and maybe some kind of exotic pet, like a turtle on a rope.
Destination you’ve returned to the most times? It isn’t exotic but the holiday I return to the most is Cornwall, England. It’s fabulous any time of the year. In the summer you can surf at Polzeath, have a fish lunch in Padstow and play golf in the fabulous Rock golf course. In the Winter you can meander around the dunes and then have hot chocolate over-looking the ocean.
Ticket, passport, money and… Books, books, books. My idea of a good holiday is spending the entire day sunbathing devouring novels. I get through a book a day – unless its big type and then the sky really is the limit.
Favourite cuisine from around the world? Dim sum is my food of choice. I have actually learnt to make Prawn and Pork Wonton Soup. It is startling as I really can’t cook. People can testify to this.
Favourite holiday cocktail? Oooh so many to choose from. I used to work as a cocktail waitress (yes, please do start singing that song, how original!) and my favourite was a Singapore Sling – Gin, Cherry Brandy, Angustoras Bitters, Ginger Ale and a twist of lime on the rocks. Yesssss.
What was your best and worst holiday romance? I have lived a sheltered life and don’t really have holiday romance stories*
*I will never share these stories ever.
