Tell us what location you chose for your SUNLOUNGER short story… Paris in the middle of August because at this time of year the city is quite different. It can be fiercely hot and, away from the tourist spots, the city is half-deserted with a Sunday-ish feel and people have much more time than usual.
Have your books featured any exotic destinations outside the UK? Yes – too many to mention them all! Along with my characters, I’ve travelled to Italy, Paris, Vienna and many other places. I particularly enjoyed taking Annie Valentine to New York in NEW YORK VALENTINE and my latest story CROSS MY HEART is set in Brussels and Germany during the Second World War.
If you could live anywhere in the world… New York, without a doubt! It’s like a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart every time.
Destination you’ve returned to the most times? It’s actually Germany, in and around Frankfurt. I spent all my summers there when I was growing up, as I have family over there. I always enjoyed biking around the beautiful woodlands.
Ticket, passport, money and… I try not to leave home without the camera. I have favourite snaps of New York plus surfing in Cornwall dotted about my office.
Favourite cuisine from around the world? Any kind of seafood with a chilled glass of white wine, at a beachfront restaurant: bliss.
Favourite holiday cocktail? A seabreeze with fresh grapefruit and cranberry juice.
What was your best holiday romance? The first holiday I took with my future husband was to Lisbon in Portugal. We had a brilliant time and really loved this city. There were amazing tiles everywhere, blue tiles, white tiles, green tiles, old and new tiles. Gorgeous.
What was your worst holiday romance? Worst ‘romantic’ break was to Prague where I remember suffering a lot of dark, brooding relationship and existential angst. The excellent beer and the stunning Charles Bridge were highlights though.
